General description of the data matrix ECC200:
A data matrix code is a two-dimensional matrix code (2D code) providing high density information in the smallest of spaces. It can be applied square or rectangular format in various sizes. Even in the event of partial irreparable damage to the code, process reliability in reading out the contents is still possible. The code is scanned using handheld or mounted systems.
Possible methods for direct component marking are:
Stylus stamping (with pneumatic or electrical-driven stylus for marking), or laser-marking. In some cases the code can also be applied using ink-jet systems.
